AGAPE Childrens Homes
Website
The Agape Children's Home (ACH) is a children's home located in Mae Ramat, Thailand, about 22 km outside of Mae Sot that houses 127 children (as of January 1, 2007). Every child is Karen, ages 5 to 19 years. The purpose of the children's home is to provide the Karen children with the opportunity to learn in a healthy, supportive, Christian environment. Growing at an annual rate of 10-12 students per year, the home operates 9 months out of the year, typically from June to late February/early March.
ACH was originally established in 1995, with its first location 30 km from Mae Sot in the village of Maungta. Every year, ACH has enrolled an increasing amount of Karen children, requiring the construction of a larger building in Mae Ramat, with two (2) separate dorm rooms for the girls and boys, a central stage/meeting area, kitchen, dining hall, toilet and bathing facilities, office, four (4) staff rooms, and a small house on-site. Just recently, on May 30, 2007, ACH celebrated its two (2) year anniversary at its new location in Mae Ramat.
